Astrological Compatibility: What a Compatibility Reading Can and Cannot Tell You

One of the most common questions I receive is: "Can astrology tell me if this person is right for me?" The honest answer is: yes, it can reveal a great deal — but it is not a simple yes or no.

A compatibility reading, or synastry reading, compares two birth charts to examine how the planets of one person interact with the planets of another. Where one person's Venus — the planet of love and attraction — falls in the other person's chart, for example, tells us a great deal about the quality of romantic attraction between them. Where Saturn falls tells us about duty, commitment, and long-term potential. Mars and Venus together speak to physical chemistry.

In Vedic astrology, compatibility analysis goes even further with the system known as Ashtakoota Milan — a point-based compatibility assessment that examines eight different dimensions of a potential relationship, including emotional temperament, sexual compatibility, intellectual alignment, and the long-term stability of the union. A score of 18 or above out of 36 is generally considered acceptable for a lasting relationship.

However, it is important to understand what compatibility analysis can and cannot do. It can identify areas of natural harmony and areas of potential friction. It can suggest where two people are likely to complement each other and where they may need to work harder. It can offer a realistic picture of long-term compatibility.

What it cannot do is override free will, guarantee a successful relationship, or predict the future with absolute certainty. Two people with a low compatibility score can build a wonderful relationship with self-awareness and genuine effort. Two people with a high score can still have a troubled relationship if they fail to communicate and grow together.

I offer compatibility readings for romantic partners, prospective spouses, and business partners. The session covers both charts in detail, and we discuss practical strategies for navigating areas of friction alongside the natural strengths of the partnership.

Sessions are available in person in Perth and by WhatsApp for clients worldwide.
